Ed Osborn: Palm House Transect

Ground Lifter (2016)

Palm House Transect is a 28-channel sound installation developed for the Greenhouse at the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, New York and on view during the summer and fall of 2014. A series of performances was held within the installation based on a score drawn from the site of the Lyndhurst Estate. The version heard here is made from studio recordings of those performances with the musicians who played on site in the piece.

Palm House Transect was presented by the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts and the Lyndhurst Estate, a national trust site, as part of In The Garden of Sonic Delights, an exhibition of outdoor, site-specific, sound art works. Production of the piece was supported by Brown University, the Harvestworks Artist in Residence Program, and the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts.
